Day 3 – Sunday October 10 – Arrive in Kathmandu
Airport pick up, transfer to hotel, check in, meet the team and enjoy a welcome dinner. Fuji Hotel.
Day 4 – Monday October 11 – Flight: Kathmandu (1310m) – Lukla (2840m)
Fly to Lukla, meet our porters, relaxing day to fully acclimatize to the change of altitude. Short acclimatization hike around the area.
Day 5 – Tuesday October 12 – Namche (3440m) (5-6 hrs trekking)
Namche – 5 to 6 hours of trekking today.
Day 6 – Wednesday October 13 – Namche
Rest day for acclimatization and explore this picturesque Sherpa village. Namche Bazaar is the outpost hub of the region and important trading centre with its bustling market. Take an optional hike to Thame where intricately carved prayer stones line the path throughout the valley to a local Buddhist monastery.
Day 7 – Thursday October 14 – Namche to Tengboche (3860m) (5 hrs trekking)
Heading away from Namche, the scenery along the trail is exceptionally beautiful. The Dudh Kosi River stretches far below. Along the way we pass stupas, prayer stones and water-driven prayer wheels that beautifully illustrate the Buddhist ties to the mountains. The monastery in Tengboche is the religious and cultural centre of the Khumbu region.
Day 8 – Friday October 15 – Tengboche to Pheriche (4312m) (5 hrs trekking)
Tengboche to Pheriche – 5 hours of trekking today.
Day 9 – Saturday October 16 – Pheriche
Pheriche acclimatization day.
Day 10 – Sunday October 17 – Pheriche to Lobuche (4920m) (4-5 hrs trekking)
Pheriche to Lobuche – 4 to 5 hours of trekking today.
Day 11 – Monday October 18 – Lobuche to Gorakshep (5140m) (4 hrs trekking)
Excursion to Everest Base Camp which sits at 5200m, and back – 5 hrs. Gorakshep is a frozen lake bed in the shadow of Kala Patthar which rises up like a giant sand dune. The camp was actually the original base camp for Mount Everest.
Day 12 – Tuesday October 19 – Kala Patthar (5545m) – Periche (4270m) (4 hrs trekking)
Climbing up the dune shaped mountain, Kala Patthar offers the best views of Everest. From the top, the peaks of Pumori (7145m), Lingtren (6697m) and Khumbutse (6623m) are all that separates us from Tibet. The creaking glaciers provide a suitable soundtrack for the roof of the world. Return to Pheriche at 4270m – 4 hours.
Day 13 – Wednesday October 20 – Tengboche (3860m) (5 hrs trekking)
Tengboche – 5 hours trekking today.
Day 14 – Thursday October 21 – Namche (3440m) (4 hrs trekking)
Namche – 4 hours trekking today.
Day 15 – Friday October 22 – Lukla (2840m) (6 hrs trekking)
Lukla – 6 hours trekking today.
Day 16 – Saturday October 23 – Flight: Lukla to Kathmandu
Flight early today from Lukla to Kathmandu, and check in to hotel. Enjoy a half-day sightseeing tour and some last minute shopping before our departure dinner.
Day 17 – Sunday October 24 – Departure
Farewell to Nepal and prepare for your departure. Flight details TBD.
Day 18 – Monday October 25 – Arrive Home
Your flight will arrive home to Toronto today.
